COLCHESTER FOOD AND DRINK FESTIVAL 2013
29TH TO 30TH JUNE IN LOWER CASTLE PARK, COLCHESTER
All sites are full, no pitches left.
A flag ship event for our company and now in its 10th hugely successful year. We intend to celebrate the anniversary by making this the best and most exciting Festival ever!!
This event now gets terrific publicity which we back with a leaflet to every home in Colchester and the surrounding area, a newspaper campaign and over one thousand posters backed by 10,000 flyers in shops, pubs and food outlets.
Our footfalls have been growing and even in 2012 (not the best year!!) we topped 20,000 visitors.
Our entrance fee to the public is only £3.50 with free parking, and a free programme (if you would like to advertise in the programme give Don a ring). This insures the maximum number of people whilst discouraging time wasters and ‘grazers’.
THIS YEAR OUR STALL FEES ARE 20% CHEAPER TO YOU AS WE NO LONGER HAVE TO CHARGE VAT!!!! – WHOOPEEE
We are being selective this year so for instance we may only have one fudge seller or one oyster stall.
So to make sure your wonderful product gets in first beat the rush by filling in the downloadable form and get it to us quickly.
The Colchester Oyster Festival
We have put together a great family event. More importantly the Oyster Festival now has a really good track record.
We have moved the event to the larger 9.5 acre Lower Castle Park as it had outgrown the Upper Castle Park site.
The Roman performers always attract a good crowd.
We are looking for craft, furniture, garden items, toys, food and drink and of course Roman themed items.
See our web description below.
THE COLCHESTER ANNUAL OYSTER FESTIVAL 2013
Lower Castle Park
7th September 2013
10.30 – 5pm
As well as the wonderful food, gift and craft stalls we have each year there will be kiddie rides, boating lake and inflatables.
A beer and wine marquee will be there for the adults plus lots of oysters.
Picnic areas. With lots of food on sale – or bring your own picnic.
There will be lots of fun for all the family including the ever popular Great British Pie Eating Competition.
The Parade of the Oysters.
This year will have a Roman theme celebrating Colchester’s most famous food with its most famous conquerors. It is rumoured that the Romans came here because of our oysters. They wrote poems and ballads to the Colchester oyster.
Each year we try and find a different way of getting the first of the season’s oysters to the Festival. This year we are bringing them up the Colne in a Roman boat, probably the first time for 2000 years!
We are building a Roman vicus (settlement) with cooking and people showing you how Romans and their neighbours lived.
Try on Roman armour.
There will be terrific fights performed to the death by our gladiators.
All set in Britain’s most beautiful park.

SUNDAY 8TH DECEMBER 2012 COLCHESTER CHRISTMAS FAIR,
THE HIGH STREET COLCHESTER
11am – 5pm
This amazing one day annual event has been making headlines and breaking records for years now.
We are still sorting out details for the Christmas Fair. Check again shortly and make sure you book early!
It is an outside event and can get a bit chilly but the money is great!
Over 12,000 people crammed into the High Street last year and the average spend was high.
Dream 100 Radio creates a wonderful atmosphere with their stage and continuous broadcast, BBC Essex cover the event and often broadcast live and our partners in the local newspapers make sure the message gets out. Come to the Fair!
