28TH 29TH June The Colchester Food and Drink Festival and the Colchester Rose Show. Lower Castle Park, Colchester.
East Anglia’s best food event alongside a great flower show. What could be a better day out in the idyllic surroundings of Colchester’s Castle Park. Savour the delights of over 120 different food stalls, have a full gourmet meal in our restaurant, a pint of real ale or a glass of superb wine maybe even an oyster or two and smell the roses! Party in the Park
25th, 26th and 27th July Colchester’s famous Party in the Park in Castle Park, Colchester. This year we have added a brand new event and massively increased the fun. Have a look at the programme and remember to book early – don’t be too late they all get full quickly. Friday night is now for live bands, Saturday for our famous tribute bands with its new fantastic line up and on Sunday our new Magic of the Musical

25th Friday night – Live in the Park
Local live bands show off their amazing talents. The very best of the local scene. Salt Dog, Newtown Kings and Streetlight Youth, Colchester’s favourites are the headliners with a host of local talent. Be there or miss the event of the year! Hot food, fully licensed bar.

26th Saturday nightTribute to the Giants in Association with P Milton Ltd, hosted by Michael J Fitch and the SGR Colchester Breakfast Show Presenters Wyatt and Natasha
SGR ColchesterTributes from the cream of UK tribute acts with Tom Jones, Take That, Madonna, The Spice Girls, and Queen. The event opens earlier in 2008 to give even better value and more time to relax and enjoy your self. An extra hour of music and fun in 2008 for your money. Followed by our spectacular fire works display.

27th Sunday late afternoonTHE MAGIC OF THE MUSICAL
Principal performers from the West End sing from Les Miserable, Phantom of the Opera, Mama Mia, Oliver, Chicago, We Will Rock You, and other great musicals. Classical music from the very best of the West End musicals played for you in the idyllic surroundings of Castle Park.

Enjoy a picnic or pick your treats from our chocolate fountain, hot food stalls, Pimms and champagne marquees. Have afternoon tea, early dinner or you still have time to book a later dinner in one of our local restaurants. Have a day to remember.

Boats Trains and Planes with The Gazette Motor Show, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th September in Lower Castle Park, Colchester
Lots of different models including train layouts, fast cars, helicopters, model aeroplanes and boats of the lake. There will be stalls selling all sorts of models and equipment for you to browse. For the car enthusiast you can see models and the real thing at the Gazettes Motor show on the same pitch and all for the same admission charge.

The Colchester Roman Spectacular, Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th October (Schools preview day friday 3rd) Lower Castle Park, Colchester
Ancient Rome returns to Colchester! Featuring full chariot racing by our professional charioteers charging with magnificent horses. Fighting gladiators, displays by Roman troops, mock battles and the sights and sounds of war.

The event also features living history displays and Roman cooking demonstrations. Loads of re-enactors and equipment will be performing with horses and equipment at this spectacular event. With Colchester’s castle as a backdrop and set in beautiful Castle Park this event will be scenic as well as packed with action.
